Centennial events wrap up the year

Fireworks explode near the Alaska Satellite Facility's new 11-meter antenna on UAF's West Ridge during the annual New Year's Eve Sparktacular event sponsored by local businesses.
December is upon us already, with just a few more centennial celebrations before the year's end. Throughout 2017, we've held more than 50 events with hundreds of volunteers and thousands of participants.

As the centennial planning committee chair, I want to thank everyone in #NanookNation for your enthusiasm in celebrating this major milestone for UAF.

I'm looking forward to a relaxing holiday break, and I hope you all are, too. Read on to learn about the remaining events to mark UAF's 100th year, and please join us if you can.

100 UAF people: Emily Ticasuk Ivanoff Brown

Emily Ticasuk Ivanoff Brown started her classes at the University of Alaska when she was 50 years old, but her late start didn't stop her from earning three degrees during her lifetime and a doctorate posthumously. For her story and many more, visit our centennial website.
