The Student Recreation Center opened in March 1994. On the first floor, three multiple-use courts provide space for badminton, tennis, volleyball, ultimate Frisbee and indoor soccer. A climbing wall, weight area and locker rooms are also on the first floor. On the second floor, a yoga/dance/aerobics area, exercise machines and more weight machines overlook the ball courts, and a running track encircles the building.
The structure provides space for intramural sports and fitness activities for UAF students, faculty, staff and alumni, as well as the general public.
The Outdoor Adventures program is headquartered in the west end of the SRC.
UAF varsity teams and the ROTC also use the SRC for training activities.
