Alaska Lumber Grading Program

Lumber

The Alaska Lumber Grading program offers training, certification, and education in dimension lumber grading using a system that applies to certain Alaska softwood trees with documented strength properties.

Individuals who complete the training and pass the associated exam are issued a renewable 5-year certificate. Dimension lumber sawn and  graded by a certified individual may be accepted as an alternative to grademark lumber to meet residential building code requirements in Alaska.
