Transitioning from High School to College Mathematics
Making a successful transition from studying mathematics in high school to succeeding in mathematics in college is important for all students at the University of Alaska ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø, as all UAF students need to meet varying mathematics requirements. For example, students majoring in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM), will need to complete substantial mathematics requirements, but also students pursuing degrees in the liberal or performing arts need to successfully complete at least one core mathematics course.
To support students in making this transition, the UAF Department of Mathematics and Statistics and mathematics faculty from the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø North Star Borough School District collaborated on this document which provides ideas and guidelines for successfully transitioning from high school to college mathematics.
