Dear UAF community,
This Memorial Day, please join me in honoring members of the U.S. military who gave
their lives in service to their country. The holiday is a chance to remember and pay
tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to extend our support to
their families, friends, and fellow service members who have experienced loss.
UAF takes pride in our “military gold” designation. It demonstrates UAF’s commitment
to our military community and our military-affiliated students. Twenty percent of
UAF students are veterans, active duty or dependents. Our Army ROTC program continues
to train future officers who are committed to service.
I recognize that this can be a difficult time for family, friends, and communities
who have lost someone. No one needs to struggle alone, and free help is available.
For students, the Student Health and Counseling Center can provide support or counseling.
Call 907-474-7043 to speak with someone, or, for more information, visit the . Employees are eligible for free counseling through the . Please call 1-888-969-0155, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
I want to express my gratitude to each and every one of you for choosing UAF and being
part of our community.
