Blue Course evaluations: Info and resources
As the fall 2024 semester gets underway, here is some important information and resources regarding course evaluations.
Course Evaluation Submission Window Dates are dependent on the duration of the course. Course evaluation survey submission dates for all courses can be found within your . For instructions on identifying survey submission dates, see page 3 of this guide.
Question Personalization is an optional but valuable feature that allows instructors to add tailored questions to course surveys. This can provide more specific insights into students' experiences. For full details, please see this guide.
Offering Incentives to Students
Instructors are not required to give extra credit to incentivize students to complete course evaluations; however, it is highly recommended that instructors encourage students to participate
in the course evaluation process.
In cases where an incentive is provided, UAF permits instructors to offer class-wide incentives for course evaluation submissions. For example, if 50% of students submit the survey, then every student will receive X points (or percent of the course grade) of extra credit. Any reward offered to students MUST be rewarded to every student in the course or no one in the class. UAF does NOT permit rewarding course evaluation submissions on a student-by-student basis, and UAF does NOT permit instructors to request proof of survey submission from students. Student confidentiality for course evaluations is taken very seriously, and requesting proof of survey submission or offering incentives on an individual basis negates survey anonymity. This guideline has been vetted through and is supported by Faculty Senate leadership.
