Madara Mason appointed new interim director of Honors College
Madara Mason has been appointed the new interim director of the Honors College and starts this role on Oct. 21, 2024. Mason is an Honors program graduate herself, and is an experienced educator and innovator, with over 20 years of experience at UAF managing teams and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses for multiple departments. Known for her service-driven leadership, she has played a pivotal role in advancing innovation, most recently spearheading the Making is Learning Lab. Her dedication to community-based problem-solving, rooted in hands-on, transdisciplinary methods, ensures that our classrooms and labs are spaces where creative and critical thinking thrives.
Mason replaces interim Honors College director Trent Sutton, who is now resuming his full-time duties as the vice provost and accreditation liaison officer. A search for a permanent director of the Honors College will take place in late fall 2024 or early winter 2025.
