Why are you passionate about UAF students and their success?

I have worked at the university for a long time in many student support positions. I like to help educate students on what their options are and how they can achieve their potential. I have the unique opportunity to work with high school students before they become a college student to introduce them to university classes.

Favorite part about being student support and an advisor?

I get to help students realize their potential for college early. It’s amazing to see students blossom and their confidence grow as they take classes.

What is your favorite feature in Nanook Navigator?

Saves me time! The ability to see everything that’s happening with a student all in one place. The pieces of a student’s puzzle are all placed together rather than having to find the information in multiple places. As an advisor, it’s also super easy to pull both midterm and final grades for my students.

I also appreciate student alerts that faculty put in so I can help intervene with support or options that the student may not be aware of.

How long have you been utilizing Nanook Navigator?

I dabbled with Nanook Navigator when UAF began using it in 2017, but I realized the full potential in fall 2020 when I began this position.

Tips, advice, or ideas to support other Nanook Navigator users or student success practices?

Like with most things that you are starting to learn, you have to just get in there and start looking around. The good news is that you can’t break anything. There are great resources on the Nanook Navigator website that I often reference for things like running .

I also love the feature that allows me to that I may want to keep an eye on. I have found that the more I use it, the less I am using Banner in my daily work to see .
