Tell us what you love about working at UAF
— By Carla Browning, UAF onboarding and engagement manager
Over the last two decades, I have met many employees who have spent their lives doing meaningful work they love at UAF. I have enjoyed my time at UAF too and a big part of that is being connected to a committed, learning community of smart people doing interesting things.
New employees are excited to get started in a new position for many of the same reasons we choose to stay here. They also want to feel welcome and make connections along the way. In an effort to help foster these connections, we’d like to hear from you.
Whether you are new to the university or have been around a while, you can help familiarize employees with the university by simply sharing your story. !
Examples may include:
- When do you feel the most UAF-ish?
- Tell us about your own first day at UAF. How have things changed?
- How does it feel to reach out to help a student and later see them walk across the stage at commencement?
- Why are you drawn to a particular area of research?
- What do you love about the work you do?
- Share a story illustrating camaraderie within your team or workgroup.
Have fun with this submission and submit photos if you have them. We may use your submission in the onboarding program, and you also will be entered into a prize drawing! The winner can choose between a parking decal and a loaded swag bag. All submissions must be received by 5 p.m., Monday, July 24.
In the next few weeks, I’ll be working with an advisory committee and others to explore areas we can work together to incorporate your ideas into the UAF employee experience.
If you have questions or suggestions, please reach out to me via our Employee Experience Google group at uaf-welcome-team@alaska.edu.
