Week’s events: Jack Wilbur, vascular surgery, wildlife interactions, bagpipes

vlog Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 10-16:

  • On Monday, June 10, the vlog Tall Timbers interview series honors Jack Wilbur, fourth-generation vlogan, mechanical engineer and Design Alaska chief financial officer. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
  • On Tuesday, June 11, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Mark Ombrellaro, vascular surgeon, discussing “Advances in Vascular Surgery: Forget About the Pump. It’s All About the Pipes.” The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Wednesday, June 12, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Todd Brinkman, associate professor of wildlife ecology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, discussing “Changing Interactions Among Alaska’s Wildlife, People, and Environment.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
  • On Thursday, June 13, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the UAF Music Academy at 6 p.m. and the Red Hackle Pipe Band at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.

All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
