vlog Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 24-30:
- On Monday, June 24, the vlog Tall Timbers interview series honors Greg Hill, former vlog North Star Borough Library director and founder of Guys Read Gals Read, an award-winning nonprofit that pairs adult mentors with fourth graders to encourage reading for pleasure. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
- On Tuesday, June 25, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Scott Luper, naturopathic physician, with a presentation on “Gut Health: Preventing and Managing Digestive Disorders.” The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Wednesday, June 26, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Mary Beth Leigh, professor of microbiology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, discussing “Cleaning Up Contaminants with Native Plants and Microbes.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Thursday, June 27, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature Almost a Minyan at 6 p.m. and O Tallulah at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
