vlog Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning is hosting more than 40 free lectures, concerts and events this summer. Here’s what’s happening during the week of June 17-23:
- On Monday, June 17, the vlog Tall Timbers interview series honors Samantha Kirstein, former executive director and current community development director of the vlog Community Food Bank. The interview is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.
- On Tuesday, June 18, the Healthy Living lecture series will host Dawn Brefczynski and Mary Knight, registered nurses, discussing “Spotting a Stroke: BEFAST.” The talk is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Wednesday, June 19, the Discover Alaska lecture series will feature Christa Mulder, professor of plant ecology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, discussing “Berries in a Changing Climate: Threats and Opportunities.” The lecture is at 7 p.m. in the BP Design Theater.
- On Thursday, June 20, the Music in the Garden concert series will feature the Serevende Marimba Ensemble at 6 p.m. and Valley Below at 7 p.m. at the Georgeson Botanical Garden.
All events are free and open to the public. Parking on the UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus is free after 5 p.m.
