ThawOut Film Festival
When? Typically takes place in late Spring (April).

The vlog Film Club (“the Club”) hosts the UAF Thaw-Out Film
Festival as a way to showcase films made in Alaska and/or by Alaskans as well as films
pertaining to the North and the Arctic. You need not be a UAF student to submit your
work to the festival. The Festival will take place on Saturday April 27 at 5:30PM in the Salisbury Theatre
on the UAF Campus. Donations accepted.
ELIGIBILITY
Films of all genres are welcomed. Priority will be given to UAF Student films made within the last year, all other films will be considered as space allows. All genres of film will be accepted for review including documentary, animation and experimental.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS/GUIDELINES
1) You must own or obtain all rights necessary, including music rights, in order to grant
the screening of the film in the UAF Film Festival and/or be shown on the Film UAF website. Please make sure that you use only self-composed and self-recorded music, or fully licensed third-party music. If applicable, all copyrighted material must be cleared before submission and all relevant documents must be submitted with your entry. UAF Film Club cannot be liable for the inclusion of any materials that infringe upon another’s copyright, this includes stock footage, music or any other element subject to copyright regulations.
2) Submitting entities are responsible for obtaining written releases granting the rights to use the name, likeness and performance from any individual appearing in any submission to UAF Film Festival. If a person appearing in a submission is a minor, the release must be obtained from a parent or legal guardian. UAF Film Club reserves the right to request proof of such release in a form acceptable to the Club from any submitter at any time.
3) The UAF Film Club assumes no responsibility for the acts or omissions of those
individuals or entities submitting entries pursuant to this notice. All submitting entities and/or individuals are advised to include credits and to carefully review those credits prior to submission since all entries will air exactly as they are received. Standard Films must be complete with end credits prior to submission.
4) All films must be in English or submitted with on-screen English subtitles.
5) Films should be submitted as an uncompressed .mp4 or .mov file. Please make sure to check that your file works prior to sending. You may also send a link to your video for us to download.

to the Thaw Out Film Festival 2024
The Thaw Out Film Fest is an annual short film festival for works under 25 minutes. It is open to all filmmakers high school and up, local to international!
On the day of the festival there will be prizes and popcorn. All accepted films will be screened to an amazing audience along with a short director Q&A. Judges will evaluate the films and award hand-crafted trophies for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Score, and many more!

As a club we accept script submissions, organize table reads, and will help workshop
your screenplay. We also produce short films and host events throughout the year.
