My research integrates genomic tools and environmental datasets to address questions spanning the fields of fisheries, evolutionary biology and ecology, with specific applications to the sustainable management and conservation of fishes and invertebrates. I am interested in the genomic underpinnings of migration, resilience to climate change and anthropogenic stressors, as well as quantifying patterns of biodiversity over space and time.
Using whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, and environmental DNA, my research links evolution and ecology—genotype and phenotype—to address the underlying mechanisms behind the patterns of behavior, distribution, and physiological responses we observe in marine and freshwater fishes.
