About Honors College at UAF
What Is the Honors College?
UAF’s Honors College is a diverse and welcoming community of high-achieving students who are interested in pursuing a rigorous academic experience, in the context of a highly interdisciplinary and supportive learning environment. Our students come from all majors and backgrounds, and engage in a wide range of studies.
As an Honors student, you can tailor a course of study that aligns with your unique vision and career goals, pursue a wide range of experiential learning opportunities, and access specialized advising and mentoring support. Most of our students engage in research and field-based learning.
Another important aspect of the Honors College experience is giving back — we believe in doing work that helps people and makes our communities stronger. You’ll find a variety of service learning and community engagement initiatives built into the Honors curriculum.
Since the Honors program was first created in 1983, we have been dedicated to our mission of providing opportunities for students to pursue excellence in academic and personal development, and fostering critical and independent thinking to help students become informed, responsible and active citizens.

The Honors College features both faculty and student advising councils, which provide opportunities to contribute ideas for curricular and extracurricular programming, developing Honors College policies and more.
