Friday Focus: Inclusion at UAF

For my first Friday Focus of 2024, I am inspired to reflect on how far UAF has come in the past few years and everything we have to look forward to. We have six strategic goals for the university that were developed in an inclusive way by faculty, staff, and students back in 2019. We are halfway to our ambitious deadline of 2027 to achieve these goals. All six of these goals are important and there is a place in our journey for everyone at UAF.

Call for abstracts: Western Alaska Interdisciplinary Science Conference and Forum

The 2024 conference will highlight needs to maintain strength, health, and subsistence lifestyles while moving forward during rapid transitions within the environment, ecology, and industries of Western Alaska. Abstracts should be submitted by Feb. 15 using the online abstract submission form.

Nominations open for student commencement speaker

Call for abstracts and early registration open for Wakefield Fisheries Symposium

We want to hear from fishery researchers, managers, and other professionals at the 2024 Wakefield Fisheries Symposium. All are invited to submit abstracts by Feb. 13 for oral or poster presentations. Friday Focus: Supporting each other

Last year, I wrote the Friday Focus around this time and mentioned that I don't set resolutions but goals. Over time, I've found that resolutions just didn't work for me, but goal setting did. When creating a goal, I develop small milestones to reach that goal or goals. I work best when I can break something down and eliminate the potential of it overwhelming me.

URSA's Summer Student Project Award offers up to $6,000 for both individual and group applicants to use toward an undergraduate research or creative activity project in the summer 2024 term.
