Bakker appointed interim executive director of University Advancement

Theresa Bakker has been appointed as the interim executive director of University Advancement. In this role, she will lead UAF's development, alumni relations, communications and marketing activities. Bakker will start the interim role on Nov. 6 and serve until a permanent candidate is hired.

Friday Focus: Valuing the institution

How do we measure success? When I look at UAF's inspiring vision statement, excellence through transformative experiences, I have the answer (or at least the goal.) We are successful when our students, investors, grantors, donors, and community members have transformative experiences. What is less clear is how to measure this success. The Board of Regents and President Pitney have been working together and with university leaders on what goals and metrics should look like systemwide. That process has caused me to think a lot about how we measure transformative experiences.

The Well reopens to support happiness, well-being at UAF

The Well has re-opened after being closed for maintenance. The Well is now openly available to anyone with a Polar Express card as a space to help promote happiness and well-being (e.g., yoga, meditation, reading, thankfulness, etc.) on the UAF campus.

MFA in effect for VPN and VDI starting Oct. 31

UAF partners with Barnes & Noble College

After a successful request for proposal process, UAF has begun a new partnership with Barnes & Noble College to operate the UAF Bookstore. The Bookstore will be closed from Oct. 30 to Nov. 8 so management can smoothly transfer from Follett Higher Education, which has operated the university's bookstore since 2009.

Amy Bristor to lead Dual Enrollment

Amy Bristor has accepted the position of director of the Office of Dual Enrollment. She began her work with student services, including dual enrollment, in 2000 with Summer Sessions and continued that work at the Community and Technical College working with professional development, outreach, and the Tech Prep program.
