Scholarship Support

Scholarships, Fellowships and student awards have an incredible impact on our Nanook Nation! We believe that enhanced student aid, through restricted or unrestricted gifts, helps retain the most talented of students. With fewer financial concerns, these students can focus chiefly on their studies, thereby reaching their full potential.

The purpose of the Walter J.  Benesch Philosophy Scholarship is to support philosophy students, based on need and recommendation by the chair of the Philosophy program.

Thank you for continuing to support Philosophy at UAF!

Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law; you are not receiving any goods or services in exchange for the money you give.

“Science used to be called natural philosophy. Aristotle once said that “The beginning of philosophy is wonder.” Philosophy is man’s expression of curiosity about everything and his attempt to make sense of the world primarily through his intellect; that is to say, his faculty for thinking.”

-Alan Watts, from Philosophies of Asia
