New student orientation
Aug. 21-24â€ÒÚ W±ð»å²Ô±ð²õ»å²¹²â — Saturday
All first-time degree students, including transfer, F-1 and J-1 international, and veteran students, are expected to attend the four-day New Student Orientation. If you fall into one of these groups, you do not need to register.
Fees: Beginning in Fall 2024, the cost of participating in New Student Orientation will be included in the matriculation fee.
Parent and Family Orientation
Aug. 21-22â€ÒÚ W±ð»å²Ô±ð²õ»å²¹²â — Thursday
Parent and Family Orientation provides you with the skills and resources you need
to support your student in their transition to college life at UAF. During our two-day
program, you'll meet the faculty and staff who will support and educate your student
inside and outside of the classroom, and have a chance take care of any outstanding
business with the university.
Fees: Attending Parent and Family Orientation costs $25 for the first guest and $10 for
each additional guest. This fee covers the cost of meals and materials distributed
during Parent and Family Orientation.
Transfer and Veteran Student Orientation
Aug. 23 | Friday
UAF Transfer and Veteran Orientation is offered to all transfer students and student veterans, active duty military, their spouses and dependents. Lunch will be provided for all attendees. And families of UAF students are also welcome!
During this program, students will learn about the educational opportunities available to them at UAF and receive support as they begin their new academic journey. Transfer students will have a chance to ask questions to live panels of UAF staff members and current UAF students.
For military members, the day’s sessions will also include briefings on financial aid, success resources at UAF, using VA educational benefits, needed forms and processes, and your housing stipend benefit.
Fees: Beginning in Fall 2024, the cost of participating in New Student Orientation, including Transfer and Veteran Student Orientation, will be included in the matriculation fee.

International Student Orientation
Aug. 23 | Friday
All international students are welcome to attend! Students will learn about U.S. Immigration Regulations, campus resources, and adjusting to life in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø. International Student Orientation will take place on Friday, August 25th, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in JUB 301/305.
Fees: Beginning in Fall 2024, the cost of participating in New Student Orientation, including International Student Orientation, will be included in the matriculation fee.
Community and Technical College Orientation
Aug. 24 | Saturday
UAF Community and Technical College New Student Orientation is offered to all students in any of UAF CTC’s 50+ programs.
During this event, students will have an opportunity to meet with the faculty and staff who will support their educational journey inside and outside of the classroom, and get all of their questions answered. Students will also have a chance to visit with others in their program before the start of classes.
The 10:00-11:00 and 11:15-1:15 portions of this program will also be presented via Zoom for those who can’t attend in person. Please indicate on the RSVP form whether you will be joining us via Zoom or in person.
Fees: Beginning in Fall 2024, the cost of participating in the Community and Technical College Orientation will be included in the matriculation fee.
Stay Connected with Residence Life
UAF is invested in your success as a student. Experience and research conclusively shows that living on campus — especially during your first year in college — leads to academic success and greater connection to the campus community.
All incoming first-year undergraduate students attending the Troth Yeddha' campus in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø who are enrolled in 9 credits or more, and under the age of 21, are required to live on campus. Exceptions are approved in some circumstances.
Immunizations
Required immunizations for students living in campus housing
All newly admitted students living in campus housing must provide proof of the following immunizations, which can be uploaded to the Student Health and Counseling Center patient portal.
Check to see if you are compliant by logging into your , select "Personal Information" and then "My Info."
- Meningococcal (MCV4) - administered after the age of 16
- Tetanus (Tdap, TD) - administered in the last 10 years)
- 2 Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR)
- Tuberculosis Skin Test (TB) - required with initial move in
