Dorli McWayne has been principal flutist of the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Symphony and Arctic Chamber Orchestras since 1974 and a member of the UAF Music Department faculty since 1981. She has been very involved in the performing arts community in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø as the director of the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Flutists, founded in 1981; and as a performer with the Aurora Chamber Players, the Northwind Trio, Chinook Winds, the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Light Opera Theater, and the Western Opera Company. She served on the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Youth Orchestras Council for 5 years, and participated in the formation of the Junior Orchestra. In addition to her University responsibilities, Ms. McWayne has coordinated master classes with flutists from the United States and Europe for the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Symphony, the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Concert Association, and the Summer Arts Festival. She has been on the faculty of the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Summer Fine Arts Camp and the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Summer Arts Festival, and has maintained a private flute studio in ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø for over 25 years. Ms. McWayne has appeared as soloist with the Arctic Chamber Orchestra, the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Summer Arts Festival Orchestra and the UAF Wind Ensemble. She has played with the Anchorage Symphony and the touring company of "Phantom of the Opera." She and William Bennett premiered his arrangement of Rameau's "Pour les Muses" for two flutes and string orchestra with the ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø Symphony. As a member of the National Flute Association's Professional Flute Choir, she has performed in cities across the country and served as conductor of the ensemble in Columbus, Ohio in 2000. She can be heard on 7 CD's with the National Flute Choir. She is currently serving as the NFA's Flute Choirs Coordinator. As an arranger, Ms. McWayne is represented by ALRY Publications; her arrangement of "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" was performed by 200 flutists at the convocation of the 2003 National Flute Convention in Las Vegas. Her other interests include gardening under the midnight sun and running (year-round in sun or snow).
