UAF is making it more affordable and convenient for students to access their required course materials with the launch of the UAF Bookstore Bundle. Through this program, students will have the option to rent all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, digital materials and electronic books for a flat fee. Materials can be conveniently delivered by the first day of class. All eligible students are automatically enrolled upon registering for classes. The option to opt-out is available for students who prefer to purchase their course materials on their own.

ASGP 2024-25 undergraduate research apprenticeships

Reports are not intended as a substitute for instructors directly reaching out to their students; rather, they are designed to ensure advisors have comprehensive information about their advisees and can more effectively provide resources and options.

Fall 2024 Zoom training sessions: Focus on AI Companion and Whiteboard

With Zoom AI Companion features being released for UA Zoom users on Aug. 16, UAF NTS Collaboration and Learning Spaces will host Zoom-focused training on using the AI Companion and Whiteboard features. While there are overviews of these topics in the Basics and Advanced sessions, this training will go into detail on using these two tools in your meetings and classes.

Friday Focus: What a difference time makes

What a difference a week makes! Over the course of this week, I have seen so many people return to campus after summer vacations or being off contract. In fact, looking out my window on Wednesday, I counted at least three new student campus tours taking place and a handful of people taking photos with our Charles Bunnell statue. The Bunnell statue is an iconic photo op on campus, especially when visitors dress him up in hats or scarves for a quick photo. With the new buzz on campus (which is soon to be even busier), I wanted to share some updates related to human resources, policy, and shared services. We have made some great progress over the summer in many areas.

Wrangell students install remote bear live stream

Wrangell-based T3 Alliance students installed a remote live-stream camera system at the Anan Wildlife Observatory in the Tongass National Forest, enabling viewers to see black and brown bears fishing for salmon. This project, supported by the U.S. Forest Service, involved high school students using skills from the T3 Alaska program. The system is powered by solar energy and uses Starlink for video feed. Explore.org hosts the stream, and the project is set for a five-year expansion plan. The live stream began on July 24.
